Applicants who trained or practised in either Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein are eligible to apply via this route.

Before you complete the application form, please ensure that you:
- are eligible to apply for registration under the UK-Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein Free Trade Agreement; and

Who can apply via FTA?
To be eligible to apply for registration based on the UK-Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein Free Trade Agreement you must be a Specified State professional., This means that you:
- hold a qualification in the relevant profession that was awarded in one of the Specified States; or
- have been engaged in the lawful and effective practice of the relevant profession in one of the Specified States.
Under the terms of this application route, by ‘Specified State’ we mean one of following:
- the Kingdom of Norway;
- the Principality of Liechtenstein; or
- Iceland.
Proof of your professional qualifications or professional experience
You need show that you have been awarded a qualification to practise the relevant profession in one of the Specified States or that you have been engaged in the lawful and effective practice of the relevant profession in one of the Specified States.
Please provide with your application certified copies of:
- your qualification awarded in one of the Specified States; and
- a document confirming that your qualifications have been recognised in that Specified State by the regulatory body or another competent authority enabling you to practise in that profession.
If you don’t have a qualification that was awarded in one of the Specified States but you have practised lawfully in one of the Specified States, you must provide certified copies of:
- your qualifications awarded outside of any of the Specified States (if any); and
- a certificate or other document provided by the regulatory body or other equivalent competent authority in that Specified State confirming that you have lawfully practised your profession there. If your profession is not regulated in that Specified State, we will also accept a certified copy of a document from an employer, if it is provided on the organisation’s official letterhead and signed by a senior person within that organisation, confirming your lawful and effective practice of the relevant profession in that Specified State, including the date your practice began and the date it ended if not ongoing at the date of your application.
How to apply via FTA?
Unlike a regular international application, which can be done online, applying via FTA requires a paper application form. You'll need to send this, along with your documentation, via recorded post to our offices.

When we receive a full application and it is accepted for processing, we'll email you with a link to pay your scrutiny fee.
After that your FTA application will follow the format of the standard international applications assessment process.
