Raising concerns: 2025 student competition

Learning materials: registrants' duties around raising concerns

For the HCPC student competition 2025, we invited students on HCPC approved programmes to design a student learning session that explores registrants' duties around speaking up and raising concerns.

HCPC registrants are required to speak up and raise concerns where patient safety and colleagues’ behaviour make it necessary. This year's entries explored why this is important, how to develop a range of effective and constructive approaches, and how these should differ depending on the situation.

The overall winner for 2025 was Samehah Chowdhury, who is studying for a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography at the University of Brighton. The runners up were Haien Chen, who is on the Scientific Training Programme in Genomic Science at the National School or Health Science, and Hannah Standing, who is studying Paramedic Science at Keele University.
